Join us Monday, September 28, 5–7pm, for a Climate Week NYC screening of artist Kayla Weisdorf’s new 70-minute documentary, 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘦𝘢𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘴𝘴 𝘥𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦. Presented in collaboration with Climate Imaginarium and the Wythe Hotel. Seaweed drinks provided by OoMee. The film carefully traces the rhythmic movements of stewards tending to the seed of eelgrass—one of the world’s most effective natural carbon sinks—at the largest successful seagrass meadow restoration project in the world. Wrapped in vibrant, monumental photography and lush sound, this meditation on processes of propagation becomes more than a poetic guide to ethically planting the nature-based solution to the climate crisis: it is the story of the sensuality and beauty of human care for marine life, and an invitation to participate in the grassroots choreography of ecological repair. The screening, at the Wythe Hotel in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, will be followed by a conversation and Q&A with the artist exploring ecological restoration, public engagement, and the role of art in inspiring climate action. Tickets are pay-what-you-wish, with a suggested donation of $10.
